Various new projects funded under the Constituency Development Fund -CDF- have been commissioned in Mwembezhi Constituency of Shibuyunji District in Central province at a cost of over six million kwacha.
Among the projects are 1×3 classroom blocks at various schools across the District which include, Kamamba Primary School in Kalundu Ward, Buwelu Primary School in Makombwe Ward, Changula Primary School based in Nampeya Ward, Nampundwe B primary School in Nampundwe Ward,Kapyanga Primary School in Kapyanga East,Shimatete Primary School in Chikonka Ward,Mwiimbi Primary School based in Mukulaikwa Ward and Mafuwa Primary school in Chabota Ward.
The 1×3 classroom blocks were all built at a cost of k6,652,538.7.
Following Government’s vision not to see any pupil seating on the floor,8000 desks have since been procured.
Nine staff houses have also been constructed at a total cost of k3,720,608.78 in Wards were the 1×3 classroom blocks have been built and at a Rural Health in Sala Ward, Mutombe and Kapyanga East Wards.
Additionally, 7 Water Reticulation Systems amounting to K812,000 have been installed at Changula Primary School in Nampeya ward,Buwelu Primary School in Makombwe,Kamamba Primary School in Kalundu, Mafuwa Primary school in chabota,Sala Rural Health Centre,Lutondo Rural health Centre and at Shimatete Primary School.
This is in accordance with the presidential directive to have piped water in all public institutions.
Speaking during the commissioning, Mwembezhi Honourable Member of Parliament Machila Jamba expressed confidence that the classroom blocks will create enough space for the learners and provide a conducive learning environment.
Another project also handed over was Nampundwe Police Post in Nampundwe Ward, which was rehabilitated at a total cost of K362,431.28.
Area Member of Parliament Machila Jamba expressed gratitude stating that all projects were proposed by the community, an indication that people at the grassroots are participating in decision making.
Speaking during the commissioning of the projects, Mr Machila noted that the projects commissioned symbolize the government’s commitment to creating a community where everyone has an opportunity to thrive.
He further said the handover of the Police post in Nampundwe marks a crucial step in enhancing security and law enforcement in the area and he further urged the community to work closely with the police to ensure that perpetrators of crimes are reported and brought to book.
And Shibuyunji District Commissioner Alfred Shaputu urged the community to safeguard the new infrastructure to avoid government wasting money on rehabilitating vandalized projects.
Meanwhile, Shibuyunji Council Chairperson, Adrian Mwanakanyemba, said the UPND Government is committed in taking Development to Shibuyunji and the country at large .
And Shibuyunji CDF Chairperson Jairos Muyabi expressed happiness for the massive Development the UPND has taken to Shibuyunji district.
Speaking at the same event, Private Secretary to Senior Chief Shakumbila, Obister Shalupa thanked Government for changing the face of Shakumbila Chiefdom.
The Commissioning Ceremony was witnessed by Council Secretary Dr Mwape Katemwe, traditional leaders, WDC Members, Councilors and heads of government departments.
In addition to the Commissioning of the projects, the 2024 CDF also saw the successful disbursement of K2.3 million for grants to 58 beneficiaries.
