Shibuyunji District today received a special visit from the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) Chairperson, Mrs. Mwangala Zaloumis, who came to monitor the ongoing voter registration exercise extended from 12 to 26 November 2025.

Her visit came with good news for Shibuyunji District. The district has exceeded its target of 7,000 new voter registrations. As of Phase 8, Day 2, Shibuyunji District has recorded 7,124 new registrations and 6,563 updates, giving a cumulative total of 13,687 during the extended phase.

Before the voter registration exercise began on 12 October 2025, Shibuyunji District had 35,006 registered voters. With the new registrations recorded to date, the district now stands at 42,130 total registered voters as of 19th November 2025. Women continue to take the lead in both new registrations and updates.

Mrs. Zaloumis visited three registration centres in Shibuyunji District:
➡️ Mwanakanyemba in Sala Ward

➡️ Shibuyunji Primary School in Makombwe Ward

➡️ Nampundwe Primary School in Nampundwe Ward

At each site, she observed the registration process and interacted with ECZ staff and members of the public.

She commended the strong teamwork being demonstrated by the ECZ team in Shibuyunji District and expressed satisfaction with the smooth, well-organised, and efficient operations.

She was accompanied by District Registration Officer Mr. Stephen Malenga and other ECZ staff during the monitoring exercise. Mrs. Zaloumis encouraged all eligible citizens in Shibuyunji District to make use of the remaining days to register or update their voter details.

With Shibuyunji District already surpassing its target, the district continues to show strong public participation as the registration exercise moves towards its close on 26 November 2025
