The Area Member of Parliament for Mwembezhi Constituency, Hon. Jamba Machila, on Wednesday, 26th November 2025, visited Senior Chief Shakumbila to appreciate the newly built palace, constructed using the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
Hon. Machila said the palace is a great achievement for the chiefdom. The modern structure includes a main office for the Senior Chief and two houses for the chief retainers, making it suitable for traditional ceremonies and administrative work. He explained that investing in traditional leadership strengthens community development and cultural identity.
The MP was accompanied by several key district officials, including the Council Chairperson, Mr. Adrian Mwanakanyemba, the District Commissioner, Mr. Alfred Shaputu, and the Council Secretary, Mr. Stephen Malenga, together with Heads of Government Departments and the CDFC Chairperson and Vice Chairperson.
After the palace visit, the delegation inspected more CDF-funded development projects across Shibuyunji District.
Their first stop was the Maternity Annex under construction at Mastek in Nampeya Ward. Hon. Machila said he was pleased with the progress, noting that the new annex will bring essential health services closer to mothers and reduce the long distances they travel to access care.
The team later visited Mabanga in Chabota Ward, where a 1×3 classroom block is under construction. He stated that once completed, the new classrooms will ease overcrowding and improve learning conditions for pupils.
Hon. Machila assured residents that he remains committed to ensuring the proper use of CDF to bring fair and meaningful development to all communities in Mwembezhi Constituency.
